Renee Jones Photography gold studio window signage

Posted on June 19, 2020

Early March 2020 saw me announce that my Kallangur photography studio would be closing and moving to a brand new location in Morayfield. Then the COVID pandemic hit and I had to temporarily close as did a lot of other businesses.

Fortunately, the timing worked in my favour, providing the opportunity to completely renovate an ugly old double garage into a brand new beautiful studio space without interrupting any sessions. When the restrictions were eased I was ready to open my door and start catching up on all the ‘cake smash and splash’ and ‘newborn’ portrait sessions that would normally have normally taken place during the quarantine.

So where did it all start? Im not kidding, it wasn’t pretty. It was a standard double garage with the electric panel door and ewww that filthy concrete! But in my mind I saw something beautiful!

The first step was the painting. The walls were originally a grey color and I decided that I wanted a brighter cleaner look for the studio. So it was off to Bunnings (multiple times) for white paint and supplies. Six coats later I finally had my ideal white (mental note for next time – start with a thick quality undercoat!).

Then it was time to say good bye to the garage door and motor and hello to my beautiful new glass windows and sliding door thanks to Reese from Building Conxions.

As you can see its not only turning into beautiful studio but its also in a beautiful semi-rural location with plenty of parking and easy access!

The next step was the flooring. A big thanks goes out to my wonderful husband for helping me on what was a very long day laying vinyl planks and of course, my parents, for watching our two little trouble makers while we worked, ached and swore a little!

(The flooring is Visions Vinyl Planks – ‘Hotham’ for anyone interested)

Then finally the curtains went up, display shelving was built, backdrops were hung and the signage added. I’m in love! This space has truly been turned into something beautiful with the most amazing lighting and comfortable feel to the room! It is the perfect place for all my maternity, newborn and baby sessions!

So nows the time to book in for your session to come in and check it out for yourself!

If you became a new mum or dad during quarantine and missed out on the opportunity to have professional newborn portraits taken, why not book in for a baby milestone session now!

Or, if you perhaps didn’t strictly observe social distancing, congratulations! Nows the time to secure your maternity and newborn session for later this year! I do recommend securing your booking during your second trimester as I only take on a limited number of sessions each week and do tend to book out in advance.
