Baby boy awake and lying on his back on a blue fabric background

I love when I am able to follow a little one’s journey from bump to baby. This gorgeous family first visited my Kallangur based studio for their maternity portraits with just a few weeks to go!

Mum and Dad chose my combined maternity-newborn package to capture the start of little Oakley’s story and preserve these precious memories! Weather and time of day weren’t an issue for this session which was held in my studio where mum was able to chose from several maternity gowns I have available in my client wardrobe.

And then finally the wait was over and gorgeous Oakley arrived! He was just 8 days new when his family came in for his newborn portrait session! What a handsome little man this guy is!

Mum and dad chose a grey/blue colour theme for his session. Little Oakley was a little sensitive to touch during his session preferring to be wrapped to sleep. We were able to photograph him in a number of poses and props while wrapped with some naked and unwrapped shots also taken towards the end of the session when he allowed us to.

Don’t forget all my packages include sibling and family photographs! What a stunning family these guys were!

And I know a lot of us mums don’t feel great about ourselves after childbirth but I honestly feel it’s important to preserve these memories for your children and future generations. When our kids look back on these photo’s they aren’t judging or looking at the bags under our eyes, the extra weight we might be carrying, or how exhausted we look. They are looking at their mummy and daddy with love and in wonder at how tiny they were… how do I know this? My own daughter loves seeing photos of herself as a baby and hearing “her” stories, not once has she pointed out how exhausted I looked in those photographs (and believe me I was!) nor the extra weight I had put on while growing her. She just loves seeing what our family looked like and telling me that she’s going to have a baby one day just like me.

I do recommend booking your maternity and newborn sessions early to avoid missing out on availability!

Maternity portrait sessions generally take place between 34 and 38 weeks and can be held either in the studio or at an outdoors location. I have a number of maternity gowns available for use during your session or you can choose to wear something of your own.

Newborn portrait sessions are best conducted within the first 14 days after baby’s arrival while they are still super sleepy and happy to be curled and posed without being disturbed. Obviously this time frame is not always possible and that’s absolutely fine. We will still get amazing pictures to capture this precious time!
